Very blurred bokeh with great handling

Features

With specifications offering the true character of a high-speed standard lens, this 50mm F1.2 lens, which is a traditional standard large aperture lens historically much loved by professional photographers, has been designed utilizing the latest technology. As well as utilizing two elements with aspherical surfaces on both sides to provide confidence-inspiring performance from maximum aperture, the lens allows you to enjoy very blurred bokeh. With its compact form considering its large maximum aperture, this lens is ideal for use on cameras with optical viewfinders and it provides effortless operability.

This product was discontinued in July 2024.

Main Features

Outstanding optical performance, 4 aspherical surfaces utilized

With an 8 element optical configuration featuring 2 elements with aspherical surfaces on both sides, this lens achieves both a high image quality standard and a large maximum aperture.

12-blade aperture diaphragm for beautiful bokeh

The aperture diaphragm is configured with 12 blades to make the aperture opening as circular as possible. This means the out-of-focus areas of images are drawn naturally and point light sources etc. are drawn as soft round bokeh rather than as polygonal shapes.

Compact style

Despite its large maximum aperture, the short length of the lens ensures it only protrudes slightly into the rangefinder window. Weighting only 347 grams (without accessories), the lens provides nimble handling.

Bayonet type hood (sold separately)

A durable and beautiful metal bayonet type lens hood is provided as an optional accessory. Choose from two types of hood designed for this lens: the compact LH-8 hood and the new LH-10 hood with improved shielding from stray light.

Manual focus for reliable focusing

Employs a very precisely machined and adjusted all metal helicoid unit lubricated with high quality grease to realize smooth focusing operation with just the right amount of torque. This enables very precise focusing.

Bayonet type VM mount

Uses the VM-mount lens mount compatible with Leica M-mount. Not only can this lens be used on rangefinder-coupled cameras, but design-wise it also balances very nicely when mounted on mirrorless digital cameras with a mount adapter.

Installed with a focus-coupling system

The high-precision rangefinder coupling mechanism enables precise focusing in focus critical situations such as when shooting at or close to maximum aperture.

Imaging circle that covers full frame format

The lens features a generous imaging circle that covers the 35 mm full frame format. Furthermore, its size is extremely compact compared to interchangeable lenses for single-lens reflex cameras.
