NOKTON 35mm F1.2 Aspherical III

Perfect balance of large maximum aperture and portability

Features

With the length reduced by about 20% to 50.5mm and the weight reduced by about 30% to 332 grams, this lens retains the highly regarded optical performance of the previous model, the NOKTON 35mm F1.2 Aspherical II VM, in a significantly more compact form. This makes the lens eminently portable despite its large F1.2 maximum aperture.

Main Features

Outstanding optical performance, 4 aspherical surfaces utilized

With lavish use of high refractive index glass and an optical configuration with 9 elements featuring 4 aspherical surfaces, this lens achieves both a high standard of image quality and a large maximum aperture.

12-blade aperture diaphragm for beautiful bokeh

The aperture diaphragm is configured with 12 blades to make the aperture opening as circular as possible. This means the out-of-focus areas of images are drawn naturally and point light sources etc. are drawn as soft round bokeh rather than as polygonal shapes.

Dedicated bayonet type lens hood

A durable and beautiful metal dedicated bayonet type lens hood that only slightly protrudes into the field of view when the lens is attached to a rangefinder camera is provided as an optional accessory. *Cannot be used on a Bessa R4 because it protrudes into the path of the rangefinder mechanism. Cannot be used with the first version of the lens.

Minimum focus distance of 0.5 meters

The lens focuses beyond the minimum rangefinder-coupled focus distance of 0.7m all the way down to 0.5m. This feature is especially useful when using the lens on a camera with a live view function.

Manual focus for reliable focusing

Employs a very precisely machined and adjusted all metal helicoid unit lubricated with high quality grease to realize smooth focusing operation with just the right amount of torque. This enables very precise focusing.

Bayonet type VM mount

Uses the VM-mount lens mount compatible with Leica M-mount. Not only can this lens be used on rangefinder-coupled cameras, but design-wise it also balances very nicely when mounted on mirrorless digital cameras with a mount adapter.

Installed with a focus-coupling system

The high-precision rangefinder coupling mechanism enables precise focusing in focus critical situations such as when shooting at or close to maximum aperture.

Imaging circle that covers full frame format

The lens features a generous imaging circle that covers the 35 mm full frame format. Furthermore, its size is extremely compact compared to interchangeable lenses for single-lens reflex cameras.
