The SEPTON 40mm F2 Aspherical is a high-performance standard lens for Nikon Z-mount full-frame (Nikon FX format) mirrorless cameras, offering compactness tailored for mirrorless systems. Its seven-element optical design, incorporating one additional lens into an Orthometer-type, achieves an aperture of F2. With a total length of just 32mm from the lens mount, it is remarkably compact. Its 40mm focal length provides a semi-wide-angle field of view, making it well-suited as an everyday lens.

Main Features

Designed exclusively for the Nikon Z mount

Optics optimized for the image sensors of mirrorless cameras with the Nikon Z-mount are implemented. The lens has a full-frame image circle and can be used with both full-frame (Nikon FX format) and APS-C size (Nikon DX format) mirrorless cameras.

Compact design with a total length of 32mm

Measuring just 32mm from the lens mount, its compact size minimises the hassle of carrying and retrieving it from a bag. The 40mm focal length, which can also be used as a wide-angle lens, makes it well-suited as an everyday lens.

Information communication with the body by electronic contacts

This lens is equipped with electronic contacts and realizes communications between the lens and the body. In addition to Exif information and in-body image stabilization (3 axes), by combining with a body compatible with communications and the latest firmware*1, three types of focusing support functions ( [1] focusing by color changing of the focus point frame [2] peaking function focusing and [3] focusing with the enlargement button) are supported.

Manual focus for reliable focus operation

Adopting a full-metal helicoid unit processed and adjusted with high precision and high-quality grease that produces an appropriate torque, focusing with a smooth operation feeling is realized. It enables fine focus adjustment.

Dome-shaped metal screw-on hood is included.

This dome-shaped metal screw-on hood is included without compromising the lens's compactness. The hood's outer circumference features a φ52mm thread, allowing the front cap to be used interchangeably whether the hood is fitted or not.
